Many thanks for the superb photo and what was a truly
memorable day out in Rutland. Alex and I had a great
time and catching the trout was a real treat. I
thoroughly enjoyed the expert tuition and will be
pursuing fly fishing as a sport, but will also bear in
mind your location and facilities to keep the "other
half" contented! Stuart Cattell July 2011

Thanks for a great stay at the lodge, and a great day
fishing.
I managed to get a few hours casting practice
yesterday, "tight,tight,release."
Hope to return in October if my work rotation
permits. Ged Breslin Bagdad. July 2011

Thanks
for a great day last Friday, I really enjoyed it. The
instruction was relaxed, the Lunch was great and the
fishing was superb. Add all that to the satisfaction of
catch, kill and cook of self caught trout and the day
could not have been any better. It is safe to say that
you have converted at least one man to Fly Fishing on
Rutland Water. I’m sure I’ll see you again. Scott

Just a
short note to thank you for a truly great experience! The fact
that I caught a trout was something else. Many thanks again for

| A wonderful
entertaining, informative and educational, what more could
be asked of from a speaker. You did exactly what the BBC
attempts to do and that is enthral an audience for an
evening.

| Hi Rob,
how's it going pal. Will be down next year and your place
will be first choice, promise! I ended up top rod out of 100
in the competition, thanks to you telling me about that area
where you caught a big bag, when we spoke at Rutland. Cheers

Thanks
for the pictures. I would like to thank you for a great
day. Having been coarse fishing since I was little (that’s
too long ago to mention), this really was my first try at
the dark art of Fly Fishing. Your expert tuition and obvious
enthusiasm made it most enjoyable and has definitely planted
the seed. I have already started looking to get kitted out
now, searching the internet sites for that elusive bargain.
You have a
terrific setup there and Rutland water is a most impressive
venue so I won’t hesitate to spread the word to all I know.
Anybody interested in getting to learn about Fly Fishing, or
those that are already experts, should do it at the Lakeside
Guest Accommodation on the Water's Edge and Fly Fishing
Adventures on Rutland Water.
I’ll
definitely be back to take on the boats and hopefully get at
least one of those trout at the other end of my own line.

Thanks for the
photos a great memento of our weekend.
We all had a great time over the weekend, the girls
included, your hospitality was first rate. I'm sending Sue
off for lessons to try and get her to cook a breakfast they
way you do.
Chris and I were both looking forward to the fly fishing and
it didn't disappoint. I think its fair to say we are both
"hooked" and talking about when we can do it again.
It was a bonus that Chris managed to catch a couple as this
all started as part of the celebrations for his 60th.

Thanks
for a great day. That one pull I will remember for the rest
of my life.
If I had caught 5 fish the day would not have been as
special as having to fight so hard for the take.... and what
a fish

Rob, Thanks also to
you and all your guides for a fantastic day which was
thoroughly enjoyed by all. We really appreciated your
efforts to ensure that everyone was having a good time and
it is that which helped make the day.
You will be glad to
hear that the barbeque was a great success and the trout
was fantastic although having also had trout for dinner
last night, I could probably do with some red meat for
dinner today...Thanks again and we hope to come and see
you again soon.

Day for 16.
Rob Many thanks
for such an enjoyable and rewarding day at
Rutland Water. When the fish arrived at
home my wife was genuinely surprised at the
size and quality of the fish!! The 'kids'
(23 and 19) were also suitable impressed.
I will now go on and
practise the cast - no limp wrist, no stiff
arm.....
I
want to fish the water again (and again)!! Paul ODay

Rob, we
had a great time, thank you.
Last night we enjoyed a supper of Trout and
fine wine, it tasted so much better knowing we
had caught it.
Timing was brilliant and look forward to
seeing you again when maybe you can give us some
instruction on your fancy casting! Tim Watkins

Hi Rob – thank you so much
for all your help with that – the boys
really enjoyed it and haven’t stopped
talking about it since.
Really liked the photos –
until I saw the ones of Angie with a far
bigger fish! It was a thoroughly
enjoyable day that I think will make a
great article. Martin and I hope we will
be able to draw upon your expertise in
the future. Guy & Amander Meade, writing
an article in Rutland Living Magazine.
Angie Vaites from Nottingham,
loved her day so much, she rang Chris Evans
on Radio 2 to tell him about her first
rainbow trout she caught after having
lessons from Rob Waddington!!
Just a quick thank
you for the other week, your help and hospitality was
second to none and I’ll definitely be recommending you &
your accommodation to anyone I know who’s fishing in the
area. Andrew Scott, North East

Just wanted to thank you for the Monday evening lesson. (spey
casting prior to a Norway trip)
I will definitely book a day out on Rutland with you for
when I am next in the UK, and hope to fish other waters with
you one day. I really enjoyed our session and think it will
help me alot. Hope you have an outrageous trip to the
Varzuga, I've been reading about it on the salmonjunkie
blog. I think I have to go there next year! Chris Campion,

First of all let me say what a pleasure it was to enjoy your
company, passion, sense of humour and warm friendliness. I can
honestly say that the team all had a great day, and that was
down to you.
Testimonial;
"Rob Waddington is the type of guy that can take a total group
of novices on a corporate day out and ensure they have lots of
fun, gain lots of learning and bond even better as a team. His
fly-fishing skills are second to none, he is a good teacher but
more than anything else his warm, friendly and jovial spirit are
infectious and make for a great day.
I
would recommend Rob to any corporate client who wants to learn a
new skill but more importantly bond closer as a team. "

Both Lynne and I
had a wonderful time and the lesson you gave us in the
morning was excellent. We have had fly fishing lessons
before but nothing to match the one we had with you, you
made it so interesting and informative making things
both easy to understand and practical.
The afternoon you
gave us fishing Rutland water in a boat was also a new
experience for us using different types of methods and
with the added bonus of actually catching some trout. I
can only say you gave us a fantastic day and I would
recommend the experience to anyone, you gave us a lot of
good memories to take away.
Thank you once
again! Kevin Moody Northampton 31/05/2010
Dear Rob
Just a quick message to say thanks again for a fantastic day. It was
perfect: good weather, superb hospitality, great company and most of all
fantastic teaching - and we even managed to catch some fish. I also want
to thank you for all the tips and advice - as I said you have a real
gift as a teacher and I hope I will be able to put some of your good
advice into practice. It was lovely to meet you and Alex and thanks for
your patience even in the face of my muppetry. Good luck for the rest of
the summer and have a great holiday. My wife Glenys also sends her
thanks for making her birthday present very special. Ian Duce. Associate

Review of the 4 hour Boat Fishing Adventure.
Firstly I have never been fly fishing before and although
very excited about the day I was also very apprehensive as
well. Those initial fears very quickly dispelled as I met
Rob and put me at ease very quickly and we had a quick
impromptu lesson BEFORE the day started.
Once on the boat Rob used all his knowledge and expertise to
place us in the correct position to hopefully catch fish. He
clearly explained different techniques we could use to
locate then catch fish.
He went through his thoughts and worries about each position
before selecting our fishing location. We caught fish
immediately and had a fantastic day.
The day was beyond my expectations and Rob was fantastic and
very patient with me !!
Thanks.
Chris Norman, April 2011
Rob hi,
Very many thanks for a most
interesting and informative day. Absolutely brilliant! And also
thanks for the trout. Karen says it is just a little smaller
than the one I would have caught!
It was good to put the technique of
casting into life. No matter how many books read or dvd's
watched it is simply not the same as having that expert hand.
Now I practice. I did find when out on the boat that when I
started to apply what you had said, in particular the slowing
down, my casting became smooth and easy. And the great bonus was
added distance and a more delicate presentation.
The other great thing I found was
that the day was not just about casting. With enough practice I
think just about anyone would be able to cast a fly well. It was
all the rest, entomology, weather, fish habits etc that all
together made the day and 'switched the lights on' !
Even my wife was impressed! She did
mention, where can we get the roll of clear plastic tube you use
when bagging up the fish. See, you are now going to cost me more
money!!
Seriously, thanks for a great day. I
am now looking forward to my next trip to Rutland. What a
difference to Narborough.
See you soon.

Hi Rob,
thank you very much
for the pictures. They are very much appreciated. I also wanted to
thank you for a great day's fishing. I learned so much from you
and am very keen to learn more [ and improve my casting ]
Your patience and sense of humour were very much appreciated.
The way in which the day was planned was absolutely superb and the
content was just right. Alot of things that I had read about in
the past now make alot more sense. The amount of thought and time
that you have put into the content of what you teach on the day
were obvious and your going that extra mile with things like
the lovely lunch, the hat, the photos and your cleaning and
bagging the fish all made for a fantastic day which you taught in
a friendly and relaxed way. Having said that I'm still
bloody envious of your fishing shed!
Thank's once
again Rob, it was great to fish with an expert. I'd
love to do it again and will definitely give you a ring [ Will
also write to Into the Blue about how good a day it was]
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT

Hi
Rob
I
just wanted to thank you again for a great day on Saturday.
Everyone was really positive about the whole day and it
surpassed our previous experiences by miles. This was all
down to you and your team. I think that a couple of the lads
may consider you for corporate activities and there is
probably a good chance we would return as a group, so
hopefully you’ll get a chance to meet at least some of us
again!
Best of luck with the business this year.

Just a
very short note to say a huge thank you for your tuition and
more importantly, patience, on Saturday.
We were all in total agreement on Saturday
evening that it was a fantastic day out and while the
overall haul may not have been up to your usual
expectations, the level of detail and quality of the day
overall more than made up for it. I know that you may
not want to hear this, however, of all our trips away over
the past 6 years there has never been an experience that we
would chose to repeat in later years until this year. You
have been warned!!
So thank you and the rest of the guys very
much for your knowledge and we all wish you every success
with the business and watch out for any voices you recognise
booking under aliases in the future!!

'I would like to thank
you & your team for a fantastic fishing trip. The whole
event was extremely well organised and enjoyed by all of
our senior directors. Your team of professionals made
the event great fun & to top it all off the food, drink
and accommodation was exceptional. The fishing was great
and particularly enjoyed by the "first time fishers".
Thanks Rob, I would definitely recommend you to my
colleagues and other
organisations looking for a team building exercise.'

our trip to Rutland Water a great experience, and one we

'Dear
Rob, Thank you so much for your help and patience
last Monday. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed
your coaching, a truly inspirational day out.
It has always been my intention, even after 50yrs of
angling to try and get a handle on all of our great piscatorial
sport disciplines. You have given me a good
grounding to build on, and I feel that I now can only go
forward. After you left Dave and myself at the
bankside, despite the headwind, it really came together
in the last 90mins, and to snare a couple of suicide
stockies was the icing on the cake! To top it all
we saw the osprey. Rob, you have a great gift for
coaching. Long may you continue helping others such as
myself. Keep up the good work.
Many thanks and tight lines! (whoops! shouldn't have
said that)'
